QUICKPOST: Climate considerations for business
As an entrepreneur I find it utterly essential to consider the consequences for the environment of my business decisions. I’ve been tempted so many times to consider “green” alternatives to physical products, like for instance “carbon-neutral” T-shirts to sell afro-centric designs. But then I can’t help thinking that that is a type of green-washing, in that encouraging customers to buy any physical product, even a “green one”, is just adding to the energy over-consumption problem of the planet. That is the one big reason why personally I have chosen to forgo trading in physical objects, and stick to digital offerings. Even then, I still think through the significant climate consequences of people browsing my websites, reading my ebooks, watching my YouTube videos etc. Personally, I am constantly searching for more efficient ways of accomplishing all these things.
